Honecker Elected Secretary-Treasurer

Like [Walt] Good, newly elected secretary-treasurer Herbert J. Honecker lives adjacent to Washington, D.C., so he is available for hurried confabs with the Headquarters staff. Honecker lives at 8105 Tahona Dr., Silver Spring, Maryland.

Last year, Herb was Vice President of AMA District IV, and in the year previous, he served as Contest Coordinator. He is active in one of the country’s most well-known Radio Control groups, the District of Columbia Radio Control Club (DC/RC Club), having been its secretary and, later, president.

Of Honecker’s roughly twenty years modeling background, he has been interested in radio control only for the past six or seven years. He cut his aeromodeling teeth with Free Flight Gas and Outdoor rubber models. A youth program supervised by his dad started Herb off when he was very young.

Herb, now 35 years of age, is employed at the Naval Ordnance Laboratory as an aerodynamicist. He received his Bachelor of Sciences degree at the University of Maryland.

Always willing and able worker is Herb. He was of considerable assistance to the Army’s modeling program last summer, and he helped out with several other meets as well. That he will put forth his best efforts as AMA secretary-treasurer, we are sure.
