Michael Hudson is attending Yale College of Engineering in his hometown of York, Pennsylvania. He received an award of $5,000, which will help in his pursuit of a degree in mechanical engineering.
Having graduated with salutatorian honors, Michael credits his parents, Karen and Louis, as well as Carl Benson and Tom Smeltzer, with making it possible for him to be where he is today. Michael achieved a 4.382 grade-point average out of a possible 4.486. Along with his academic achievement, his school reports that he “met demanding objectives with a high energy level and can formulate practical action plans without hesitation.”
His school and community activities cover a wide range of interests, from playing brass instruments in various bands to working in science, physics, and history clubs. He has also donated part of his time to community service, working with the March of Dimes and the American Cancer Society.
Michael’s modeling career currently involves flying a Radio Control helicopter. It began with a plastic Control Line model and has evolved through a variety of experiences. As is often the case, Michael’s father had forsaken modeling years before. Through Michael’s interest, the spark was rekindled and a partnership was created. After suffering the trials of teaching themselves to fly, they reached a level that involved Michael in Pattern competition, instruction of others, and club activity. He and his father construct model aircraft for others.
Since 1989, Michael has found time to work at various jobs, including golf and lawn-care businesses.
