Paul Boyer is now retired from the U.S. Navy. While in that service as a Commander, he was liaison officer between the Navy, AMA, and the hobby industry during the many years when the Navy hosted the National Model Airplane Championships.

Due to his personal interest and exceptional efforts, he kept that program going long after others in the Pentagon wanted to end it.
