Robert Sonnleitner, of Oshkosh, WI, was nominated for the award by the entire Winnebago Flyers club. Bob has been the spark plug of this club, helping it grow and making it a power for good in the community. As chair of many functions (picnics, contests, kite flys, mall shows), Bob has exhibited an unselfish attitude that has truly made a big difference in club activities.

He is a contest director and a newsletter editor. He helped restore Steve Wittman’s Bonzo D-12 (full-scale) for the Experimental Aircraft Association’s museum. In 1985, Bob was voted the outstanding club member.

Primarily a Control Line flier, Bob has a list of future projects that will keep him aeromodeling for many years. He also flies Radio Control, but modestly claims to be “not very good at it.” He more than makes up for whatever skills he lacks by his active participation in club business. Whenever there is a job to be done, Bob and his three sons are on hand.

His manner and attitude, to say nothing of his energy, make him an ideal candidate for the award.
