I started building dime kits from Woolworths and candy stores in 1933. By 1936, I was a gas modeler, and in 1938, I entered my first big contest. I joined the NAA (later the AMA) at the field.

I grew up on Staten Island, New York, a great place for model airplanes. The only interruption in my modeling came with World War II, where my other hobby got me into the US Army Air Corps as a photographer in the South West Pacific. In October of 1945, I was back home making balsa dust and have not stopped since.

In the early days, I sold photographs and drawings to Model Airplane News and Air Trails magazines. In 1962, Model Airplane News published my ½A Fluff.

I have been a member of many clubs, including the Richmond MFC in New York, the Westchester Sky Devils (now the WRAMS), the Connecticut Flying Aces, the Glastonbury Modelers, SAM 7, and currently the Radio Control Flyers of Venice, Florida. This hobby has helped me become a photographer, artist, engineer, and private pilot. My interest in aviation has never waned. I am just as hooked now as I was back in 1933. Many good friends have been made and I expect to make many more.
